Recovery orders are granted by the Federal Circuit Court and the Family Court when a parent in defiance of a court order abducts a child and withholds that child from spending time with their other parent. The recovery order is directed to the Federal Police to locate the child and return the child to the parent whom they are to live with pursuant to a court order.
