Messy Custody Dispute Reaches America’s Supreme Court

A family law dispute has managed to reach the Supreme Court in America after the American father argues his daughter should be brought back to America.

The messy custody dispute in America has allowed the father to take his case to the Supreme Court after his wife (Scottish) left him and took their daughter to Scotland.

What is being posed to the Supreme Court is whether or not the American federal appellate courts have the authority, after the child has left the United Sates, to review a district court’s order to return a child to her habitual residence under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction—the purpose of the Hague Convention is to determine the proper country for child custody proceedings.
