A Current Affair interviewed our own Brisbane family lawyer Deborah Awyzio on the legal issues surrounding the heart-wrenching story of the most recent child abduction case.
Australian-born children Lahela, four, and Noah, two, have been taken by their father to Lebanon in what Deborah Awyzio says ‘amounts to child abduction’.
But sadly for their Brisbane mother Sally Faulkner, Lebanon is not a signatory to The Hague Convention which enforces the return of abductedchildren to their home country. So Australian Federal Police have no jurisdiction in Lebanon.
